Importance of Parents
Abdullah ibn Umar, a leading scholar among the Prophet’s (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) companions once saw a man from Yemen carrying his mother on his back and going around the Kaaba in his tawaf. Rather than show any sign of complaint, the man was happy, repeating a line of poetry in which he likened himself to a camel his mother was mounting. The only difference is that a camel may be scared by something and go out of control. He would never go out of her control.
He looked at Abdullah ibn Umar and asked him whether by so doing he discharged his debt to his mother. Ibn Umar said: “No. You have not even paid back one twinge of her labour pain when Read more ...
To my child
An emotional poem written by a father whose 10 month old daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer.
The poem reminds us how much we should appreciate our daily life with our precious children. Let us live every moment with gratitude!
To my child
Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.
Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is.
Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park to play.
Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how Read more ...
Kids listen to our deeds
How many times have you told your kids to change their clothes / brush their teeth / do their homework / or anything else for that matter? There is really no right answer because there is really no limit to the number of times we have to ask our kids to do something.
For most of us, this is a normal part of our daily lives. We ask, and ask, and ask, and if we are lucky, our kids cooperate after the fourth request or after a loud but otherwise harmless scolding. We complain that our kids never listen to us; we ask other parents how they get their kids to behave, eat their vegetables, or go to sleep. We consult books and Internet sites at all hours on Read more ...
Good parenting is like being a Good Muslim
"A father cannot give a better gift to his child than a good education." (Tirmidhi)
Becoming a parent was an amazing experience. I am blessed with two beautiful baby girls and I pray to Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala (Glorified is He) that He raises them as good and pious human.
Good parenting is like being a Good Muslim – both require continuous struggles to stay focused on our goals (that is, if we take the time to even set them in the first place), being conscious of the consequences of our choices, an ongoing and honest evaluation of ourselves, and the best efforts to improve our condition.
"Allah does not change the condition of people until Read more ...
Treasure Your Parents
It’s a classic movie scene, almost cliche: a grown child leaving home as his parents standby watching. The mother, usually weeping, is being consoled by her husband. Today's children think that it was the parents who were losing in these situations. Typically the child is beaming, excited at the new prospects that await, while the parents are sad as their progeny heads forth to tackle the world alone. In reality, that is not the case; in fact, it is the child who loses the most.
As we grow up, it seems as if we develop a sense of independence and self-reliance. We like to do things for ourselves – we enjoy setting our own schedules and determining Read more ...
Are You a Sign of the Last Day?
Source: http://saudilife.net/ | Written by - Umm Zakiyyah
It was while watching the Oprah Winfrey Show many years ago when I realized that times have really changed…This particular show interviewed a mother who had written and published a children's book and dedicated it to her daughter. The mother shared with Oprah that she now realized that she had spent many of the daughter's young years working hard in her career and hadn't given her daughter the time and attention she deserved.
The book was a gift from mother to daughter saying, I'm sorry and I love you. Moved by the sincerity of the mother, Oprah turned to the daughter, Read more ...
