Part 1
My dear brothers and sisters in Islam, one of the very few lands that our Prophet (peace be upon him) has mentioned in numerous traditions, and in fact even before him, Allah has mentioned by reference in the Quran is the land of Sham, which is now the land of Syria, Jordan, Lebanon Read more ...
The Grief of a Mother, and the Love of a Son
Ibn Hubayrah, the governor of Iraq tried to force Imam Abu Hanifah (rahimahullah) to accept the role of Qadi (Judge).
When the Imam refused, he was struck with a hundred and ten lashes. He was beaten so severely that his head was swollen and breathing became difficult for him.
He remained strong throughout his torture but when he found out that, his mother was grieved by what had happened to him, his eyes overflowed with tears.
When he was freed, he said: ‘The grief of my mother was more difficult on me than the beating.’

Principles of Just War in Different Religions
Thucydides, the well-known author of The History of the Peloponnesian War wrote: "The strong do as they can, while the weak suffer what they must."
This summarizes what had been happening in the dark ages of yesteryears, and what is happening unfortunately right now at the behest of "the leaders of civilization".
In fact, soon after the Second World War, international laws were instituted by all the reigning powers, to prevent the terrible sufferings likely to be inflicted on the weak by the strong. The idea was to uphold right rather than might.
These internationally approved laws of war are codified in the UN Charter, the Geneva Conventions, Read more ...

More than Bad Rulers and Corrupt Societies
In the past few centuries the Muslim world was much more integrated than we realize. It was one social, cultural, religious and economic domain. Its language, system of education, currency, and laws were the same.
When British journalist Robert Fisk said that in the face of disaster Arabs act like mice, he was being polite. He could have said that the Muslims act like mice. The question is why?
It is easy and customary to blame the current Muslim rulers for this sorry situation. No doubt the Iraq invasion would not have been possible without their acquiescence and support. If they refused to open their lands, waterways, and airspace to the invasion, Read more ...

Islamic Guidance: Husband and Wife Relationship
Islam is not merely a religion that asks to you worship and get closer to God. The religion guides humankind in each and every aspect of life. It is a way of life that is not limited to your relation with God, but also tells you how you should go about with other people, be it your parents, or your siblings, or friends and neighbors or your children or even your spouse.
Before the advent of Islam, ignorance and wilderness were spread everywhere. Women had no rights neither as sisters, nor as daughters and not even as wives. The religion of Islam came and elevated the position of women. Where it laid down a few rules and principles, it also laid down Read more ...
