All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger, his household and companions.
Fellow Muslims! The Almighty Creator created this universe with His knowledge and wisdom and created in it all that exists of the angels, men, jinn, animals, plants and other things which none but He knows. He created all these for a single purpose that all acts of worship should be solely His, that all Read more ...

More than Bad Rulers and Corrupt Societies
In the past few centuries the Muslim world was much more integrated than we realize. It was one social, cultural, religious and economic domain. Its language, system of education, currency, and laws were the same.
When British journalist Robert Fisk said that in the face of disaster Arabs act like mice, he was being polite. He could have said that the Muslims act like mice. The question is why?
It is easy and customary to blame the current Muslim rulers for this sorry situation. No doubt the Iraq invasion would not have been possible without their acquiescence and support. If they refused to open their lands, waterways, and airspace to the invasion, Read more ...
Picture Perfect : Be Not of Polytheists, Criminals and Disbelievers
Allah says in the Quran, Surah Al Muddaththir, 74:40-46 :-
"(They will be) in Gardens (of Delight): they will question each other, And (ask) of the Sinners (Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers)): "What led you into Hell Fire?"
They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; "Nor were we of those who fed the indigent; "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment," Read more ...
Islamic Guidance: Husband and Wife Relationship
Islam is not merely a religion that asks to you worship and get closer to God. The religion guides humankind in each and every aspect of life. It is a way of life that is not limited to your relation with God, but also tells you how you should go about with other people, be it your parents, or your siblings, or friends and neighbors or your children or even your spouse.
Before the advent of Islam, ignorance and wilderness were spread everywhere. Women had no rights neither as sisters, nor as daughters and not even as wives. The religion of Islam came and elevated the position of women. Where it laid down a few rules and principles, it also laid down Read more ...
Broken Pieces of Clay and Pottery: A Lesson in Humanity
Source : Suhaibwebb | By Farhia Yahya
I was once walking along a narrow but busy street in Cairo when ahead of me was a donkey-cart laden with handmade pottery and clay utensils. It belonged to an old man who had been walking slowly beside it, and trying to sell whatever he could to make an income. He walked with hunched-shoulders, a turban tied round his head like a Sa’idi from Upper Egypt, his face wrinkled by age and the harsh Egyptian sun. It wasn’t hard to see that many difficult years had passed over him and he had probably been doing this for a long while.
As I continued to walk, I heard a cry and some commotion. The donkey had staggered Read more ...
What is the Punishment of Rape crime in Islam?
Praise be to Allah.
The Arabic word ightisaab refers to taking something wrongfully by force. It is now used exclusively to refer to transgression against the honor of women by force (rape).
This is an abhorrent crime that is forbidden in all religions and in the minds of all wise people and those who are possessed of sound human nature. All earthly systems and laws regard this action as abhorrent and impose the strictest penalties on it, except a few states which waive the punishment if the rapist marries his victim! This is indicative of a distorted mind let alone a lack of religious commitment on the part of those who challenge Allah Read more ...
Blogging and Accountability
Writing and Blogging on the Internet and its Accountability
Today many people have blogs and are active participants in the blogosphere and other social network sites and forums on the internet.
But how many of us immerse into and follow the ethics, etiquette and definite accountability associated with writing?
How many of us realize the reach that our writing would have and that we will be answerable for the same on the day of judgment?
Al-Qa'nabi once found his teacher Imam Malik crying profusely, so he is asked him the reason for the weeping.
Imam Malik responded: "Who is more worthy of crying than me. I do not speak a word except that it Read more ...

How the Quran Justifies Itself
In a previous posting about Islam’s rational monotheism (which may be read here), we saw how the Qur’an espouses a universal rationalist discourse to substantiate some of its main theological doctrines. As for how the Qur’an vindicates itself, and rationalises its claim of truly being the Word of God, it deploys the following line of argument:
Firstly, it states that the Prophet Muhammad, upon whom be peace, was an unlettered Prophet [7:157]; that is, he was unable to read or write, and most certainly uneducated in the modern sense of the word: And you did not used to recite any book before this, and nor did you write it with your right hand.
