Obedience to Parents

Passages from Sahih al-Adab al-Mufrad concerning Obedience to one’s Parents

Passages from Sahih al-Adab al-Mufrad concerning Obedience to one's Parents. Chapter 1: The saying of Allah the Exalted, "and we have enjoined upon man to be good to his parents" 1/1 From Abu Umru ash-Shaibaanee who said, "the owner of this house narrated to us," and he indicated with his hand to the house of 'Abdullah, that, "I asked the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam), 'which action is the most beloved to Allah?' How does a Father Teach his Children Tawheed?

Mu'adh bin Jabal narrates that the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) said: "O Mu'adh! Do you know what Allah's Right upon His slaves is?" I said, "Allah and His Apostle know best." The Prophet said, "To worship Him (Allah) Alone and to join none in worship with Him (Allah). Do you know what their right upon Him is?" I replied, "Allah and His Apostle know best." The Prophet said, "Not to punish them (if they do so)." [Sahih Bukhari, Book #93, Hadith #470] Shaykh Allama Muhammad bin Salih al-Uthaymeen -Rahimullaah- was asked: How does a father teach his children Tawheed? He answered: "He teaches them Tawheed just like he teaches them other matters Read more ...

The Lofty position of Mothers

The position of my mother remained unknown to me, until I contemplate what my Lord revealed through His prophet – That I worship none but Him and be kind to my parents and say not a word of contempt in the least bit (uff) and obey in all their orders unless it’s something which Allah has forbidden. And address them in honor and abstain from what they forbid and provide them, serve them and raise not voice in front of them nor fix glance upon them or call them by their names. And be patient with them and out of kindness lower to them the wings of humility and say – My Lord! Bestow on them your mercy as they cherished me in childhood. One Read more ...

My little Princesses, you bring to me a heart of Joy

My two little princesses would be back home, insha’Allah around tomorrow. Clearly, you both bring to me a heart of joy and provide great memories and a powerful sense of fatherhood. I cannot wait to be “tied around their little arms”,… entwined I’ve always been. I am again going to enjoy going on outings with them, show them stuffs like pictures and toys, eating meals together, or read stories to them. Basically sharing various activities that we would enjoy together. Their laughing and smiling and reacting with me, and seeing them as such is an amazing feeling, even if one has to act silly for it, or tease them lovingly... oh my darlings!! I Read more ...

The Excellence of Daughters

The encouragement to seek children covers both sons and daughters, and along with this general encouragement Islam has given special merits to seeking and bringing up girls – contrary to the thinking of the people of ignorance (age of Jaahiliyyah) of the past and present, since the people of ignorance – wherever and whenever found – hated (some of them ‘still do’) to have daughters and were grieved and angered by their births! "And when the news of (the birth of) a female (child) is brought to any of them, his face becomes dark, and he is filled with inward grief! He hides himself from the people because of the evil of that whereof he has been Read more ...

To my child

An emotional poem written by a father whose 10 month old daughter was diagnosed with brain cancer. The poem reminds us how much we should appreciate our daily life with our precious children. Let us live every moment with gratitude! To my child Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying. Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear, and smile and say how perfect it is. Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park to play. Just for this morning, I will leave the dishes in the sink, and let you teach me how Read more ...

Muslim Fathers Have to Man Up

Source : http://muslimmatters.org/  |  By Yahya Whitmer As-Salamu Alaykum, There is an old saying that goes “It takes a village to raise a child”. To me, that statement emphasizes the tremendous impact that a child's environment and peers has on his or her development. In a hadith narrated by Imam Muslim, the Prophet  mentioned that sheep shepherds are meek and humble, whereas the caretakers of camels are proud and arrogant, indicating that these human beings are influenced by the innate character of the animals that they take care of. In commenting on this hadeeth, the Ulema have long mentioned that if people are susceptible to being Read more ...

A Great Bounty and Blessings…

One of life’s greatest miracles and gifts bestowed upon us is the blessing of life itself, especially when the life is in the form of a small bundle of joy who welcomes her new surroundings with a beautiful cry that calms the hearts of her parents. Recently, my beloved wife was granted the blessing of delivering a healthy baby girl (27-Oct-2011), Masha’Allah. We have named her Anam, which means blessings. She is our second daughter, Alhumdolillah! A daughter is a great bounty and an honour granted by Allah. I thank Allah for His Mercy to me and my family. May my daughters reach maturity and right-guidance, and may Allah (SWT) make them a blessing Read more ...

Friday Khutbah (Sermons) : Causes of Youth Perversion

Friday Khutbah (Sermons) : Causes of Youth Perversion - by Imam Al-Madinah Al-Munawarrah ‘Abdul Muhsin Ibn Muhammad al-Qasim from the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah The Transcript: All praise is due to Allah, Lord of all the worlds. Peace and blessings of Allah be upon the Messenger, his household and companions. Fellow Muslims! Allah created His servants on a sound and balanced nature. He sent Messengers to confirm and perfect that. Young people are fertile and open ground for all that is introduced to them, either good or bad; and they readily accept whichever of the good or false ideologies, and excellent or bad morals that comes their way. The Messenger Read more ...

A Parent’s Love

Once, for some reason, a king gave orders for a father and I his son to be thrashed. "Tie them to those columns and give them each a hundred strokes with that cane. Start with the father, that would be much better." The guard said to the father: "Stand still old man. Let me tie you. Now be ready for I'm starting, 1, 2, 3, ................... 98, 99, 100." "All right, that's enough. Now it's the son's turn, tie him up and beat him," said the king. "Come on boy, stand beside this column and give me your hands," said the guard. "Oh, no, please, for God's sake, don't beat my son. Stop beating," the father pleaded. "Huh! You endured a hundred strokes without Read more ...
