No real advancement for the Muslims without a Return to their Religion

Saudi King Abdul Azeez (rahimahullaah) said: "O Muslims! It is obligatory that we hold onto the Rope of Allaah (i.e. the Qur'aan), follow the Sunnah of Allaah's Messenger Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam), follow the guidance of the Messenger, act on Allaah's orders and keep away from what Allaah has forbidden. Indeed, every speech that is not followed by action is false. There can be no rectification for the Muslims except through their unity upon singling out their Lord in [His Lordship, Names and Attributes and worshipping Him alone and associate none to Him as a partner in Worship]. [And in the event of] every differing that leads to splitting Read more ...
tawheed

The three categories of Tawheed, defined in the Quran

In the Name of Allaah, the All-Merciful, may His Salaah and Salaam be upon His final Messenger, and upon all his family members and companions, and those who follow his way, to proceed... Tawheed has three categories understood directly from Allaah’s Book. This division of tawheed is not from someone’s opinion, nor is it merely a traditional way to explain tawheed. It is a division that is taken directly from Allaah’s Book. The first category is Tawheed ar-Ruboobiyyah, which means "to single out Allaah in understanding His Actions," like His creating, providing, bringing of life and death, and keeping order in all affairs. A person understands Read more ...
And few of My servants are grateful. 34:13

“O Allah, make me from the few!”

I read this online in a text message and thought it was beautiful, something to ponder about, so I thought it would be nice to share with you all. This is from the book Kitab al-Zuhd by Ahmad bin Hanbal, and is also found in the Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah. When Umar bin al-Khattab (radhiAllaahu anhu) was walking in the market, he passed by a man who was supplicating, "O Allah, make us of Your ‘few’ servants! O Allah make us of Your ‘few’ servants!" So Umar said to him, "Where did you get this du'a (supplication) from?" And the man said, "Allah in His Book says: "And few of My servants are grateful." [Quran 34:13]" So Umar wept and admonished Read more ...

Dua’ : O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge..

"O Allah, I ask You for beneficial knowledge, a humble heart, certainty based on truth, and a tongue that moves in constant remembrance of You! O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for every sin that You prohibited to me but I opposed You by committing; and every sin that You forewarned me of but I remained firm in committing; and every sin that You deemed abominable but my lower self made attractive to me. O Allah, forgive me and my parents and whoever enters my house as a believer and the believing men and the believing women. And do not increase the wrongdoers except in destruction. O Allah! grant us wisdom and join us with the righteous. “O Allah! Read more ...

O Allah, Make us of Your ‘Few’ Servants!

When Umar bin al-Khattab radi allahu 'anhu (may God be pleased with him) was walking in the market, he passed by a man who was supplicating, “O Allah, make us of Your ‘few’ servants! O Allah make us of Your ‘few’ servants!” So 'Umar said to him, “Where did you get this du'a (supplication) from?” And the man said, “Allah in His Book says 'And few of My servants are grateful.' (Quran 34:13)” So 'Umar wept and admonished himself, “The people are more knowledgeable than you, O Umar! O Allah make us of Your 'few' servants.” Sometimes when you advise someone to leave a sin, they respond with “But most people do it, it's not just Read more ...

Remembering Allah – Supplications (Dua) from the Quran

All praise is for Allah. We praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness and we repent to Him. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and the wickedness of our own deeds. Whomever Allah guides, cannot be lead astray, and whomever Allah misguides, none can guide him. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah alone, with no partner or associate. He has blessed His slaves with seasons of mercy and forgiveness, and He has generously bestowed upon them times when they may increase in righteousness and good deeds, times of goodness, bounty and blessings. And I bear witness that our Prophet Muhammad is His Slave and His Messenger, Read more ...

Every Soul Shall Taste Death

“The eyes surely tear, and the heart is surely in pain, but (with my tongue) I will only say that which is pleasing to Allah, and we are indeed sad at being separated from you, O Ibrahim.” — Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam), upon losing his child Ibrahim at 2 years old. Almighty Lord Allah (Subhanahu Ta 'ala - exalted is He) says in the Quran: "Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving;" [Surah Al-Mulk, 67:1-2] Every one of us has to die. In this regard Allah mentioned Read more ...

The Etiquette of Visiting Graves in Islam

Praise be to Allah. Visiting graves to pray to their occupants or seek their help or ask them to intercede – this is a reprehensible action, and indeed it is major shirk. It is not permissible to build mosques or domes etc over graves, because the Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “May Allah curse the Jews and Christians, for they took the graves of their Prophets as places of worship.” (Sahih – agreed upon). And because it was narrated from Jaabir (may Allah be pleased with him) in al-Sahih that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade plastering over graves, sitting on them and erecting structures Read more ...
