Hajj notes (Printable PDF) – based on Authentic Sunnah

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy

First and foremost I thank The Almighty Allah for having granted me the beneficial knowledge, health, wealth and time and all other uncounted Mercy and Blessings, without which we can achieve nothing.

Allah (Subhanahu Ta’ala) says in the Quran:

“Verily, the first House (of worship) appointed for mankind was that at Bakkah (Makkah), full of blessing, and a guidance for Al-‘Alamin (the mankind and jinns). In it are manifest signs (for example), the Maqam (place) of Ibrahim (Abraham); whosoever enters it, he attains security. And Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah) to the House (Ka’bah) is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the expenses (for one’s conveyance, provision and residence); and whoever disbelieves [i.e. denies Hajj (pilgrimage to Makkah), then he is a disbeliever of Allah], then Allah stands not in need of any of the ‘Alamin (mankind and jinns).” [Surah ‘Ali-‘Imran, 3:96-97]

As we can see from the preceding ayat, Hajj is not only the fifth pillar of Islam, but it is an actual duty we owe unto Allah (Subhanahu Ta’ala). And any form of worship is only acceptable when the following is true:

  • One devotes it to Allah alone, with a desire for the Hereafter. It cannot be done with the intention of being seen among men or for worldly gain.
  • One follows the Prophet’s example, in words deeds. This cannot accomplished except knowledge of the Sunnah.

One should prepare for Hajj very well and understand each and every aspect of the worship. And the only acceptable way of performing Hajj, is the way taught to us by the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam).

Apparently, while studying and preparing myself for Hajj pilgrimage, this year in’sha’Allah, I realized that after learning, I still needed some notes, that I can carry during the Hajj pilgrimage. As such, I have prepared a “Hajj notes” which can be printed and used as a summarized referral. But prior to this note, every individual needs to study and learn the rites of Hajj (tamattu), based on Authentic Sunnah. This Hajj notes only covers high-level details and many important aspects of Hajj have been omitted here as they were expected to be acquainted with.

A very special thanks to the following who have been the main sources of reference and instrumental in my learnings.

Please do remember me in your prayers.

I ask Allah’s forgiveness for my own shortcomings and any mistakes I may have made in writing and compiling these notes. All praise is due to Allah (subhanahu ta’ala).
