You Will Be Accountable O Parents and Teachers

An exhortation for Muslim parents. By: Shaykh Muhammad ibn Jamil Zaynu "O you who believe! Save yourselves and your families from the Hellfire." [Surah al-Tahrim 66:6] Mothers, fathers, teachers, and the society as a whole, will all be accountable in front of Allah about the tarbiyyah (education and upbringing) of this generation. If its tarbiyah is good, then there will be happiness - both in this world and the Hereafter. If it is not, then there will be misery, and it will be a rope around your necks - since there occurs in the hadith: "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you will be questioned about those who you are responsible for." tyrant rulers

The Tyranny of the Rulers is Not a Reason for Rebellion

The goal of the Jihadist sects is one and the same: rebellion against those in authority and a desire to rule over the Muslim lands. They may alter their names and titles but their ideology remains the same. Islam itself, despite what these sects assert, forbids open censure and rebellion against even the most wicked and tyrannical of Muslim rulers. The Prophet of Allaah (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam), upon whose statements and actions we establish our religion, stated in an authentic tradition: “There will appear after me rulers, they will not guide by my guidance, and they will not establish my Sunnah; there will be amongst them men whose hearts will Read more ...

And few of My servants are grateful. 34:13

“O Allah, make me from the few!”

I read this online in a text message and thought it was beautiful, something to ponder about, so I thought it would be nice to share with you all. This is from the book Kitab al-Zuhd by Ahmad bin Hanbal, and is also found in the Musannaf of Ibn Abi Shaybah. When Umar bin al-Khattab (radhiAllaahu anhu) was walking in the market, he passed by a man who was supplicating, "O Allah, make us of Your ‘few’ servants! O Allah make us of Your ‘few’ servants!" So Umar said to him, "Where did you get this du'a (supplication) from?" And the man said, "Allah in His Book says: "And few of My servants are grateful." [Quran 34:13]" So Umar wept and admonished Read more ...

A Composed Dialogue on Tawheed

A man by the name of Abdullah (Abdullah literally means the slave/worshipper of Allah) met a man named Abd-un-Nabi (The slave/worshipper of the Prophet) and felt apprehension of this name, thinking, "How can someone make himself the slave and worshipper of someone other than Allah?!" Abdullah thus addressed Abd-un-Nabi, saying: "Do you worship solmeone other than Allah?" Abd-un-Nabi replied. "No! I do not worship anyone other than Allah. I am a Muslim and I worship Allah alone." Abdullah: Then why does your name resemble some Christians names, like Abd-ul-Maseeh (The slave/worshipper of the Messiah, i.e. Jesus. This is a common name among Arab Christians). Read more ...

Remembering Allah – Supplications (Dua) from the Quran

All praise is for Allah. We praise Him and seek His help and forgiveness and we repent to Him. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil of ourselves and the wickedness of our own deeds. Whomever Allah guides, cannot be lead astray, and whomever Allah misguides, none can guide him. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah alone, with no partner or associate. He has blessed His slaves with seasons of mercy and forgiveness, and He has generously bestowed upon them times when they may increase in righteousness and good deeds, times of goodness, bounty and blessings. And I bear witness that our Prophet Muhammad is His Slave and His Messenger, Read more ...

What to do at time of Earthquake or other Calamity?

Earthquakes are one of the great signs of Allah in this universe, with which He tests His slaves as a reminder or to instill fear of Him or as a punishment. Man must remember, when the signs occur, his weakness, incapability, humble status before Allah and his need of Him, so he turns to Allah, may He be exalted and glorified, in supplication, beseeching and humility, in the hope that Allah will lift this great distress from the people. Allah says in the Quran: "Verily, We sent (Messengers) to many nations before you (O Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam)). And We seized them with extreme poverty (or loss in wealth) and loss in health (with calamities) Read more ...

To seek help in other than Allah is an act of Shirk

To seek help in other than Allah or to invoke other than Him is an act of Shirk Allah the Most Exalted said: "And invoke not besides Allah any that will neither profit you nor hurt you, but if (in case) you did so, you shall certainly be one of the Zalimun (polytheists and wrongdoers). And if Allah touches you with hurt, there is none who can remove it but He; and if He intends any good for you, there is none who can repel His Favour which He causes it to reach whomsoever of His slaves He will. And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful." (Surah Yunus 10:106-107) And He said: "You worship besides Allah only idols, and you only invent falsehood. Verily, Read more ...

The Excellence of Supplicating Du’as in one’s Absence

Allah, the Exalted, says: "And those who came after them say: "Our Lord! Forgive us, and our brethren who came before us into the Faith, and leave not, in our hearts, rancour (or sense of injury) against those who have believed. Our Lord! Thou art indeed Full of Kindness, Most Merciful."" (Surah Al Hashr 59:10) "Know, therefore, that there is no god but Allah, and ask forgiveness for thy fault, and for the men and women who believe: for Allah knows how ye move about and how ye dwell in your homes".
