The Secret of Prayer : Sujood
The Secret of Prayer: Sujood
Ibn Al-Qayyim described the sujood as the secret of prayer, the greatest pillar, and the seal of the ruku’. He said all the other actions we did before it were just preludes.
We should step back and reflect: what do we feel when we go into sujood? Some of us simply do it because it is a part of prayer; others because it is where we can make du'a. But how many of us feel the humility of the soul, as we put our faces on the ground, in glorification of Allah?

Friday Khutbah (Sermons) : Go Back and Pray, for You Have Not Prayed
by Muhammad Alshareef
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
In the dark of the night, Abu Lu’lu’ Al Majoosi hid in the shadows in preparation for the Fajr Salah, during which he would execute his satanic mission to murder the Ameer of the believers – Umar ibn Al-Khattab radi Allahu anhu.
Umar used to lead the Fajr Salah with a long surah, giving members of the community time to join the congregation. On this day, as he recited, Abu Lu’lu’ advanced from a dim pillar, a poisoned dagger hidden in his sleeve. He jumped in front of Umar radi Allahu anhu and tore Read more ...
The Night Journey – Al-Isra’ and Al-Miraj
The Night Journey - Al-Isra' and Al-Miraj
Al-Isra' and Al-Miraj (the Night Journey and Ascension) refer to the miraculous journey that Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) experienced. Unlike what some people claim, that journey involved both the body and soul of the Prophet. The main proof of the fact that the body of the Prophet was involved in the journey is that Almighty Allah began the first verse of Surat Al-Isra' by the word subhan, which means exalted and glorified. This word indicates that a miraculous event is about to be mentioned in the sequel.
This journey was a decisive stage of the Prophet's call in Makkah, because there were Read more ...
Eid ul-Fitr : The gift of Ramadan
The obligation of fasting in the month of Ramadan for the believers, men and women, who are sane and healthy, is a clear message to mankind that unrestricted indulgence in fulfilling the desires of one's base or animal self has to be curbed for some time, to give an upliftment to one's spiritual self. The object of fasting as described in the Holy Quran is “so that you may guard against evil.”
During the auspicious month of Ramadan, a fasting person abstains from food, drink and sexual relations from dawn until sunset, in obedience to the command of his creator. The month is a training whereby the believer's trait of God-conscious is nurtured. Even Read more ...
