Dealing in Riba (Interest) is War against Allaah and His Messenger (pbuh)

In the name of Allaah, the most Beneficent, the most Merciful Verily, the issue of Riba is one of the most serious matters that should be tackled. In this regard, all of the heavenly revelations have prohibited dealing in it, and Allaah warns those dealing in it with the severest threat. Allaah, Exalted be He, says: "Those who consume interest cannot stand (on the Day of Resurrection) except as one stands who is being beaten by Satan into insanity..." [Quran: Al-Baqarah: 275] In this verse, Allaah decrees for the person, who deals in Riba and accepts its interest that he "cannot stand" from his grave "except as one stands who is being beaten Read more ...

Dignity, not Charity

One day, a man from Madinah approached the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) for help, and the Prophet asked whether he had any possessions in his house. He (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) asked the man to bring the cloth and bowl which he owned, then sold them to one of his companions for two dirhams. The Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) told the man to spend one dirham on food for his family, and use the other to buy an axe – then he instructed him to “go and gather firewood, I do not want to see you for a fortnight.” By gathering wood and selling it, the man made ten dirhams, which he used to buy food and clothes for his family Read more ...

Friday Khutbah (Sermons) : Zakat – Consolation and Growth, not an Imposition or Burden

We seek refuge with Allah from the evils of our own selves and from our bad deeds. Whoever Allah guides none can lead astray, and whomever Allah sends astray, none can guide. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah alone, with no partner or associate. He enjoined Zakat upon Read more ...

Qabisa b. Mukhariq al-Hilali narrates that: "I was under debt and I came to the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) and begged from him regarding it. Ramadan : Love Food, Hate Waste

As the month of Ramadan approaches, many Muslims will be determined to cut down on the food they waste. “O children of Adam! Eat and drink freely, but do not waste for Allah does not love the wasteful.” [Surah Al A'raf 7:31] Prophet Muhammad said: “Sufficient food for the son of Adam is enough to keep his back straight.” It is customary in Ramadan for people to share their food and give to the poor. People of the Garden

How to ward off the evils of Wealth

Sa'eed bin Ayman, the freed slave of Ka'b bin Sur, said: "While the Messenger of Allah was speaking to his companions, a poor man came and sat down beside a rich man. From his movement, it seemed as if the rich man were moving his garment away so that the poor man wouldn't touch it. The Messenger of Allah's [color] changed [from anger], and he said: "O so-and-so! Were you afraid that your richness would transfer to him, or that his poverty would transfer to you?" "And is richness evil?" asked the rich man.
