The Five tests of today mentioned in the Quran

Allaah Subhanahu ta'ala says in the Quran: "And certainly, We shall test you with something of fear, hunger, loss of wealth, lives and fruits, but give glad tidings to As-Sabirin (the patient). Who, when afflicted with calamity, say: "Truly, to Allaah we belong and truly, to Him we shall return." They are those on whom are the Salawat (i.e., who are blessed and will be forgiven) from their Lord, and (they are those who) receive His mercy, and it is they who are the guided ones." [Quran, Surah al-Baqarah, 2:155-157] The Believer is Patient with the Affliction and thus gains a Reward Allaah informs us that He tests and tries His servants, just as Read more ...
Jihad in the path of Satan

ISIS: Jihad in the Path of Satan

Jihad in the Path of Satan - Terrorists fight in cause of Satan A muslim scholar explains the obligation of maintaining public safety for Muslims and non-Muslims alike; that terrorists who spread fear in society fight in the path of Satan - so it is obligatory upon the Muslim scholars and parents to protect their youth from the ideologies of the extremists and bloodthirsty terrorists and to exonerate Islam from the treachery of these terrorists towards the most basic foundations of the Religion. The Muslim scholar, Shaykh Salih al-Fawzan said: All praise is due to Allah and may the peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family and his Read more ...

Friday Khutbah (Sermons) : Marriage is a Protection and a Joy

Friday Khutbah (Sermons) : Marriage is a Protection and a Joy – by Imam Al-Haramain, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Ibn Abdul Aziz-as-Sudais Makkah al-Mukarramah; Translated by Nasiruddin al-Khattab The Transcript: Part – 1 Praise be to Allah; we praise Him and we seek His help and guidance; we repent to Him and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge with Allah from the evils of our own selves and from our evil deeds. Whoever obeys Allah and His Messenger has been guided and whoever disobeys Allah and His Messenger has gone astray. I bear witness that there is no god worthy of worship but Allah alone, with no partner or associate. He created us from one soul, Read more ...

Do you see your Sins as a Fly or a Mountain?

'Abdullah b. Mas'ud – Allah be pleased with him – said: "The believer sees his sins as if he is sitting at the foot of a mountain fearing that it might fall on him, while the sinner (fajir) sees his sins as a fly that lands on his nose, he just waves it away. "  [Al-Bukhari, Al-Sahih, The Book of Supplications, Chapter on Tawbah] Ibn Hajr quotes in his commentary, Fath Al-Bari:Ibn Abi Jumrah said, “The reason for this [fear] is that the heart of a believer is illuminated; so when he sees from himself something that goes against what he illuminates his heart with, it is very distressing to him. The wisdom behind giving the example of a mountain Read more ...

The Station of Fear

From among the stations of worshipping Allah and seeking His help is the station of fear. Fear is one of the most important stations on the path and most beneficial for the heart. Fear is an obligation upon everyone, Allah said, "So fear them not, but fear Me, if you are (true) believers." [Surah 'Ali 'Imran, 3:175] The actual word used for fear in this verse is 'khawf.' Another verse says, "and fear none but Me." [Surah al-Baqarah, 2:40] the actual word being a derivative of 'rahba.' And, "Therefore fear not men but fear Me," [Surah al-Ma'idah, 5:44] the actual word in Arabic being 'khashya.' Different connotations of these various terms Read more ...

Muslims view Narendra Modi with Hate not Fear

Recently an acquaintance of mine echoed the following words to me: “Even if Narendra Modi was involved in the 2002 Gujarat riots, I don’t care. His economic work wins out. I will vote for him.” Since then, I have not been able to shake a deep-seated disturbance at his disregard for essential humanity. This disregard, I fear, is shared by many in India. Before I lose your attention, this is not another piece debating Modi’s guilt. In fact, the argument about Modi’s guilt is endless. I have my view, you have yours, and facts are facts—they don't change even after a questionable judgment from the court that gave Modi a clean chit. But that’s Read more ...

The Best Remembrance

The Best Remembrance From a talk by Sk. Yasir Qadhi There are many benefits we can extract from the last few verses of Surah Al-Hashr. These are verses known for their sweetness and beauty, and their conciseness, and profound meanings. Allah subhaanahu wa ta‘ala says: "O ye who believe! have taqwa of Allah, and let every soul look to what (provision) He has sent forth for the morrow Yea, fear Allah: for Allah is well-acquainted with (all) that ye do." (Surah Al Hashr 59:18) This is an address from Allah to those who proclaim to be Muslim. Ibn Mas’oud said, “Whenever you hear the phrase, 'ya ayuhal ladhina amanu', pay attention because it is addressed Read more ...

Being afraid of You, O my Lord!

On the authority of Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "A man used to do sinful deeds, and when death came to him, he said to his sons, 'After my death, burn me and then crush me, and scatter the powder in the air, for by Allah, if Allah has control over me, He will give me such a punishment as He has never given to anyone else.' When he died, his sons did accordingly. Allah ordered the earth saying, 'Collect what you hold of his particles.' It did so, and behold! There he was (the man) standing. Allah asked (him), 'What made you do what you did?' He replied, 'O my Lord! I was Read more ...

The inability to weep is caused by hardness of heart

One day the blessed Prophet was counselling his Companions. As they listened to his sweet words, some of them wept from fear of Allah and some from love of Him. The venerable Usama was the only one not weeping. He lamented his state to the blessed Messenger of Allah, who placed his blessed hands upon his breast and said: ‘ukhruj ya iblis (Out, O Satan!)’ Now at last Usama began to weep. The blessed Messenger turned to his Companions saying: ‘The inability to weep is caused by hardness of heart, hardness of heart is caused by multiplicity of sin, multiplicity of sin is caused by forgetfulness of death, forgetfulness of death is caused by ambitious Read more ...

Weeping From the Fear of Allah

"Has not the Time arrived for the Believers that their hearts in all humility should engage in the remembrance of Allah and of the Truth which has been revealed (to them), and that they should not become like those to whom was given Revelation aforetime, but long ages passed over them and their hearts grew hard? For many among them are rebellious transgressors." (Surah Al Hadid 57:16) "Allah has revealed (from time to time) the most beautiful Message in the form of a Book, consistent with itself, (yet) repeating (its teaching in various aspects): the skins of those who fear their Lord tremble thereat; then their skins and their hearts do soften to the Read more ...
