Dignity, not Charity

One day, a man from Madinah approached the Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) for help, and the Prophet asked whether he had any possessions in his house. He (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) asked the man to bring the cloth and bowl which he owned, then sold them to one of his companions for two dirhams. Qabisa b. Mukhariq al-Hilali narrates that: "I was under debt and I came to the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) and begged from him regarding it. He said: 'Wait till we receive Sadaqah, so that we order that to be given to you.' Shaykh Sa'eed ibn Musfir tells the following account.... I was walking out of the Haram (the Ka'bah in Makkah) when I saw a man begging from everyone that passed by him. Just then a man who had parked his tinted Mercedes excessively close to the Haram in a designated VIP parking walked passed the beggar on his way to his car.
