One God

Man’s Sense of Sinfulness and Purification of Soul

Every human being is a unique creation containing some angelic, devilish and even animal-like characteristics. His angelic qualities are predominant when he sincerely worships God and establishes a close relationship with Him. Such a man is like the angels, who are depicted in the Quran as follows, "who do not disobey God in whatever He has commanded them, but (always) do what they are commanded to do." [At-Tahrim 66:6] But if a human being turns his back on or shows contempt for his Creator, or worships more than one God. He will fall victim to negative and harmful influences. When such a man gets angry he acts like a wild man, his sole aim being to Read more ...

Soul of a Believer

Al-Baraa' ibn 'Aazib stated that the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) said: "When a believer is leaving this world and entering the next, angels with faces shining brightly like the sun descend from the heavens carrying a shroud and embalming fragrance from Paradise, and [then they] sit down within sight-range. The Angel of Death then approaches, sits by his head and says, 'O good soul, come out to Allah's forgiveness and pleasure.' It will then come out like a flowing drop of water from a water-skin, and he will catch it. But, within the blinking of an eye after he catches it, they will take it and put it in the shroud and fragrance. There will Read more ...

Every Soul Shall Taste Death

“The eyes surely tear, and the heart is surely in pain, but (with my tongue) I will only say that which is pleasing to Allah, and we are indeed sad at being separated from you, O Ibrahim.” — Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam), upon losing his child Ibrahim at 2 years old. Almighty Lord Allah (Subhanahu Ta 'ala - exalted is He) says in the Quran: "Blessed is He in Whose Hand is the dominion, and He is Able to do all things. Who has created death and life, that He may test you which of you is best in deed. And He is the All-Mighty, the Oft-Forgiving;" [Surah Al-Mulk, 67:1-2] Every one of us has to die. In this regard Allah mentioned Read more ...

And I have to answer for them all…

"Verily, before that, they indulged in luxury," [Surah al-Waqi’ah, 56:45] Engrossed in the pursuit of our desires we keep ourselves back from reflecting upon the state of our souls. Scholars have always taught and lived by the truth that love of this world is the source of all error. `Umar (radi Allahu ‘anhu) thought about the following words in the noble Quran: "Beautified for men is the love of things they covet; women, children, much of gold and silver (wealth), branded beautiful horses, cattle and well-tilled land. This is the pleasure of the present world's life; but Allah has the excellent return (Paradise with flowing rivers, etc.) Read more ...

Nobody Cares for Me!

A man was on his death bed. The family understood that he was passing away. So the family members and relatives began to weep sitting around him. Suddenly the sick man spoke out: "All of you be quiet! Oh, dear father! Why are you crying?" "My son! I'm crying because I'll break down and be lonely if you leave," replied the grief-stricken father. "Mother dear! Why are you crying?" asked the ill man. "Oh, my dear son, I always hoped that you would assist me in my old age, but you are leaving before me," replied the mother. "What makes you cry, my dear wife?" "My children are going to be orphaned. I shall have to look after them all alone, without your Read more ...

Living to Die or Dying to Live!

Death is a harsh and fearful reality faced by everyone who lives. No one has the power to avoid it, nor does anyone around a dying person have the ability to prevent it. It is something that happens every moment and is something encountered by the young and the old, the rich and the poor, the strong and the weak. They are all the same in that they have no plan, nor any means of escaping it, no means of intercession, no way to prevent it, nor to delay it. Allah - the Most High - says: "Say: "The Death from which ye flee will truly overtake you: then will ye be sent back to the Knower of things secret and open: and He will tell you (the truth of) the things Read more ...

Dhikr (Remembrance) of Allah

Dhikr (Remembrance) of Allah Dhikr,  i.e. mental or verbal remembrance of Allah is so consoling, pleasant and every form of worship that one can perform it continuously at all times and with great benefit. Allah has enjoined his Dhikr in the Quran in the following words: Obviously Dhikr does not benefit Allah, who has no need of it; the benefit is for Allah’s bondsmen since Dhikr strengthens the bond between Allah and His bondsmen. It is food for the soul which invigorates it. And with an invigorated soul it becomes easy to overcome one’s base instincts and to vanquish the Devil. Thus one is able more easily to avoid sins and the good deeds Read more ...

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you deny?

Then which of the favours of your Lord will you deny? I know one, who claimed as an atheist who sounds to hate God badly. He asked God to give miracles for him to believe God’s existence. He said 'God give nothing' and he then deciced that there is no God. Our life is miracle. Look at people around us, see how they are beautiful, our eyes can see this world clearly, isn’t it wonderfull? The trees, the flowers, the sun, the moon, the stars... the love we have. From micro-orgasms to the human. From whales to ants and everything in between. The atmosphere we breath, the lakes we swim in, the forests in their splendor, the desert in its empty grandeur Read more ...

Adhan : An Amazing Discovery

An incredible medium for the proclamation of Tawheed of the Almighty Allah and risalat of Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu alayhi wassallam, the sound of which constantly echoes around the globe.  Amazing though it sounds, it is an established fact. Indonesia consists of numerous small islands, the principle ones amongst them being Java, Sumatra, Borneo and Celebes, all of which are well known. It is the largest Islamic country in the world, with 180 millions inhabitants. The number of non-Muslims here is negligible. As soon as dawn breaks Read more ...

Why We Read The Quran Even If We Don’t Understand It

Why Do We Read the Quran Even though We Don’t Understand A Single Arabic Word? An old American Muslim lived on a farm in the mountains of eastern Kentucky with his young grandson. Each morning Grandpa was up early sitting at the kitchen table reading his Quran. His grandson wanted to be just like him and tried to imitate him in every way he could. One day the grandson asked, “Grandpa! I try to read the Quran just like you but I don’t understand it, and what I do understand I forget as soon as I close the book. What good does reading the Quran do?” The Grandfather quietly turned from putting coal in the stove and replied, “Take this coal basket Read more ...
