earthquake

Why does Earthquake occur?

All praise be to Allah. May Allah's Peace and Blessings be upon Allah's Messenger and upon his family, Companions, and those who follow his guidance! Allah (Glorified be He) is All-Wise and All-Knowledgeable with what He predestines and what He legislates and commands. He creates what He wills of portents. He predestines them to make His servants fear Him, reminds them of what they have to do and warn them against Shirk (associating others with Allah in His Divinity or worship), disobeying His commands and violating His prohibitions. Allah (Glorified be He) says: "And We sent not the signs except to warn, and to make them afraid (of destruction)." Read more ...

The Islamic Ruling On Wearing Charms, Amulets, & Talismans

The Islamic Ruling On Wearing Charms, Amulets, & Talismans (Ta'weez or Tamimah) The practice of writing Quranic verses, supplications, remembrances or the names of Allah upon pieces of paper or cloth and then placing them upon the body in the form of a necklace, bracelet, pouch or band has not been reported from the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam), nor from his Companions (radhiAllaahu anhum). Every Muslim knows that the finest Religious example to be followed is the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) himself. So if the Prophet and his Companions did not use amulets as a means of protection and warding off evil, or as a means of bringing about Read more ...

Verily actions are by Intention

A very detailed explanation of the hadeeth of intention from the tremendous work of Ibn Rajab. Below are translated excerpts from the beautiful work by Imaam Ibn Rajab al-Hanbalee (rahmatullah) entitled 'Jaami Al-Uloom wal Hikm' in which he has a detailed commentary on 50 ahaadeeth of the Messenger (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam). (Basically an-Nawawee's 42 ahaadeeth with 8 added on) The First Hadeeth Umar bin al-Khattaab relates that: "I heard the Messenger of Allah, (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), saying, "verily actions are by intentions, and for every person is what he intended. So the one whose hijrah was to Allah and His Messenger, then his hijrah Read more ...

Jinn and the meteors

Among the jinn are those who eavesdrop on the angels in the lowest heaven. The jinn then convey this information to some fortunetellers. 'Abdullah Ibn 'Abbas reported an incident: "A person from the Ansar who was amongst the Companions of Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) reported to me: "As we were sitting during the night with Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam), a meteor shot gave a dazzling light. Allah's Messenger (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) said: "What did you say in the pre-Islamic days when there was such a shot (of meteor)?" They said: "Allah and His Messenger know best (the actual position), but we, however, used Read more ...

The Signs of Bliss & Misery

"One with whom was knowledge of the Scripture said: "I will bring it to you within the twinkling of an eye!" then when [Sulaiman (Solomon)] saw it placed before him, he said: "This is by the Grace of my Lord to test me whether I am grateful or ungrateful! And whoever is grateful, truly, his gratitude is for (the good of) his ownself, and whoever is ungrateful, (he is ungrateful only for the loss of his ownself). Certainly! My Lord is Rich (Free of all wants), Bountiful."" [Quran, Surah al-Naml, 27:40] "As for man, when his Lord tries him by giving him honour and gifts, then he says (puffed up): "My Lord has honoured me." But when He tries him, by straitening Read more ...

Some Signs to Ponder over

How can one observe the inexhaustible creativity of nature, its purposefulness, its preservation of the morally useful and destruction of the socially injurious, and yet fail to draw the conclusion that behind nature there is a Creator and Master. A Creator whose ceaseless creative activity, the processes of nature - is but an outward manifestation! The stars scattered through infinite space, the vast panorama of nature with its charm and beauty, the regular waxing and waning of the moon, the astonishing harmony of the seasons and the days and nights, the incessant supply of water, the delicate flowers and crystals beneath our feet - all point towards one Read more ...

Signs’ of Allah’s Existence

Signs’ of Allah’s Existence By Imam Ibn Kathir “O mankind! Worship your Lord (Allah), Who created you and those who were before you so that you may acquire Taqwa. Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allah (in worship) while you know (that He alone has the right to be worshipped).” [Quran, Surah Al Baqarah 2:21-22] Several scholars of Tafsir, like Ar-Razi and others, used this Ayat (verse) as an argument for the existence of the Creator, and it is a most worthy method of argument. The Lesser and Greater Signs of The Day of Resurrection

Praise be to Allah. The signs and portents of the Day of Resurrection are the things that will happen before the Resurrection takes place and will indicate that it is close at hand. They have been divided into lesser and greater signs. The lesser signs, for the most part, will occur a long time before the Resurrection begins. Some of them have happened and ended – although they may be repeated – and some of them have appeared and are ongoing, and some have not yet happened, but they will happen as the truthful one (the Prophet) (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has told us. The Major Signs are serious matters, the appearance of which will Read more ...

You will be disregarded

Allah says in the Holy Quran, Surah TA HA, 20:124-126 "But whosoever turns away from My Message, verily for him is a life narrowed down, and We shall raise him up blind on the Day of Judgment." He will say: "O my Lord! why hast Thou raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)?" (Allah) will say: "Thus didst Thou, when Our Signs came unto thee, disregard them: so wilt thou, this day, be disregarded." Read more ...

It’s a Sign – The World’s tallest Building

The World’s tallest building had opened with a bang on 4 January 2010 in the emirate of Dubai, measuring a whopping 828m in height. The Burj Khalifa is far taller than the previous record holder, Taipei 101. Known as the Burj Dubai during construction, the tower has been renamed after the leader of Dubai’s oil-rich neighbor, Abu Dhabi. Construction of the super tower began in 2004. The engineering marvel dwarfs existing skyscrapers, with the previous tallest building in the world, the Taipei 101 in Taiwan, reaching a comparatively modest 508m.
