Prophet’s dream: Drawing water from a well

Abu Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) said: "While I was sleeping, I saw myself standing at a well over which there was a bucket. I pulled out as many buckets of water as Allah wished from it. Ibn Abi Quhafah then took the bucket from me and pulled out one or two full buckets, but there was weakness in his pull – may Allah forgive him. Then the bucket turned into a very large one and 'Umar ibn al-Khattab took it. I have never seen any person draw water with such strength as 'Umar did, until the people [drank to their satisfaction and] watered their camels to their fill; whereupon the camels sat beside the water." What goes up must come down…?

There is something striking about the life of Yusuf 'alyahi as-salaam (peace be upon him). Every time it seems something good is happening to him, it is taken away or something messes it up. Think about it. He tells his father about his amazing dream, and his father informs him that it is something good, and that he is a prophet. Then his brothers throw him in the well. While he is in the well, waiting to be rescued, some passersby go to collect water, and instead they find him. AlhamdulilLah (praise be to God)! He is saved! But wait… they sell him at a market. He becomes a slave. The minister who buys him treats him pretty well, though. He is still Read more ...

The Dream of the Prophet (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam)

Sahih Bukhari, Volume 9, Book 87, Number 171: [Interpretation of Dreams] Narrated by Samura bin Jundub: Allah's Apostle very often used to ask his companions, “Did anyone of you see a dream?” So dreams would be narrated to him by those whom Allah wished to tell. One morning the Prophet said, “Last night two persons came to me (in a dream) and woke me up and said to me, 'Proceed!' I set out with them and we came across a man Lying down, and behold, another man was standing over his head, holding a big rock. Behold, he was throwing the rock at the man's head, injuring it. The rock rolled away and the thrower followed it and took it back. By Read more ...

Don’t Lie about Dreams

Ibn ‘Umar narrates that the Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu alayhi wassallam) said:

“The worst lie is that a person claims to have seen a dream which he has not seen.”

[Sahih Bukhari, Book #87, Hadith #167]

The Devil’s Attempt

A man once dreamt of Satan. Satan was holding some frayed ropes and broken chains and he was fuming with anger. In his dream, the man felt curious and asked the devil: "Hey, devil, why are you carrying these things?" The devil answered: "I trap people and drag them along with these ropes and chains." "Why are you looking so furious?" the man wanted to know. "Tonight, I intended to drag Sheikh Ansari towards me and to evil but, I failed. Each time I pulled on the ropes or chains, they snapped. I did this seven times, but the result was just the same. Now I am very disappointed about the Sheikh." In the morning, the man rushed to the Sheikh without Read more ...

Ramadan : Realise it’s greatness, worth & rewards

Talha ibn 'Ubaydallah (radhiAllahu anhu) reported that two men came to the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) who had accepted Islam at the same time. One of them used to partake in Jihad more-so than the other, and so (one day) he fought in a battle and was martyred therein. The other remained behind him for another year, and then he passed away. Talha said: "I saw in my dream that I was at the door of Paradise when behold, I was with both of them (the two men). Someone came out of Paradise and allowed the man who passed away later to enter first. Then he came out again and allowed the martyred one to enter. Then he returned and said to me, ‘Go back, Read more ...

History of Adhan (Call to Prayers)

In Makkah, the number of muslims were small. They could make Jama’ah without any call. When Prophet Muhammad (SAW) arrived in Madinah, the number of Muslims started to increase. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) built Masjid Al-Nabawi to offer Salaah regularly. By the second year of Hijrah, the number of Muslims had increased. The people announced in a loud voice. “As-salat ul-jamiah (the Salaah for jama’ah is ready).” Those who heard this call came to join the Salaah. Muslims felt the need to find a way to inform people to come to the Salaah. Prophet Muhammad (SAW) asked his Sahabah for their advice. Some Sahabah suggested that the muslims, like the jews, Read more ...
