The Will (Bequest) of Al ‘Alamah Shaykh Rabi’ ibn Hadi Al Madkhali (rahimahullah)
Indeed, all praise is due to Allaah. We praise Him, seek His help, and ask His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allaah from the evils within ourselves and from our evil deeds. Whoever Allaah guides, none can misguide him, and whoever He leaves astray, none can guide him.
I bear witness that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allaah, alone with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) is His servant and messenger.
“O you who have believed, fear Allaah as He should be feared and do not die except as Muslims. [Surah Al-‘Imran:102]
“O mankind, fear your Lord, who created you from one soul and created from it its mate and dispersed from both of them many men and women. And fear Allaah, through whom you ask one another, and the wombs. Indeed, Allaah is ever, a watcher over you [Surah an-Nisa’:1]
“O you who have believed, fear Allaah and speak words of appropriate justice. He will amend for you your deeds and forgive you your sins. And whoever obeys Allaah and His Messenger has certainly attained a great attainment.” [Surah al-Ahzab:70—71]
To Proceed:
Verily, the best speech is the Book of Allaah, and the best guidance is the guidance of Muhammad (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam). The worst of affairs are the newly invented matters, and every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in the Fire.
This is a will (Bequest) for the general Muslims from a weak servant of Allaah who is about to depart this world and is approaching the Hereafter:
I advise all Muslims to fear Allaah as He deserves to be feared, to hold firmly to His rope all together and not be divided.
Do not divide your religion, for in the fear of Allaah and clinging to His rope — the Book and the Sunnah — lies your happiness and honour in this world and the next.
Division and differing are the cause of humiliation and disgrace. Unity cannot be achieved except upon the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam). So, they must cling to this great means which leads to happiness in this world and the Hereafter and stay away from that which opposes it: division and conflict, which are the cause of misery and degradation in both worlds.
I advise the Salafis, who have distinguished themselves by clinging to the Book and the Sunnah and calling to them, to increase their efforts in reforming the conditions of the Muslims — in belief, worship, politics, economics, society, and all other matters of life — all of which should be founded upon the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam).
Let them make this clear to all Muslims and demonstrate their sincerity and noble objectives — that they want nothing but good for this Ummah and to ward off every harm that has befallen it due to abandonment of the Book and the Sunnah.
I advise students of knowledge and scholars of all orientations to fear Allaah regarding this Ummah, to exert their efforts to bring it back to the Book of Allaah and the Sunnah of His Messenger, and to the way of the righteous predecessors in belief, worship, politics, society, and character.
They must distance themselves from whims and desires and the causes of division, which have caused terrible harm to the Ummah. It is time for them to rise and strive for these noble goals and to distance the Muslims from anything that leads to weakness and disgrace.
Everyone must understand that this Ummah will not be rectified except by that which rectified its beginning.
It only attained excellence over all other nations because they enjoined good, forbade evil, and believed in Allaah.
The early Muslims from the Sahabah and those who followed them in goodness attained this excellence, as the Messenger Of Allaah (Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam) testified:
“The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then there will come people who give testimony without being asked, who betray and cannot be trusted, who vow but do not fulfill, and obesity will appear among them.” [Sahih al-Bukhari, 3650]
He also said:
“The righteous ones will pass away one after another, and there will remain the useless people like the chaff Of barley or dates; Allaah will not care for them.” [Al-Bukhari, 6434]
So, it is upon the carriers of knowledge to advise sincerely for Allaah, His Book, His Messenger, and for the believers, both general and specific so that Allaah may save those among the Muslims whom He wills, from this state of worthlessness and insignificance.
There is no cause for this except the abandonment by many, of clinging to the Book of Allaah and returning to His Messenger for judgment. If they manifest this sincerely and firmly, it will bring great benefit to the Ummah.
We ask Allaah the Most High to actualize that, and to remove from the Muslims all causes of disgrace — including division, envy, hatred, and enmity, whose effects are seen by anyone who truly wants good for this Ummah.
