Being afraid of You, O my Lord!

On the authority of Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said: "A man used to do sinful deeds, and when death came to him, he said to his sons, 'After my death, burn me and then crush me, and scatter the powder in the air, for by Allah, if Allah has control over me, He will give me such a punishment as He has never given to anyone else.' When he died, his sons did accordingly. Allah ordered the earth saying, 'Collect what you hold of his particles.' It did so, and behold! There he was (the man) standing. Allah asked (him), 'What made you do what you did?' He replied, 'O my Lord! I was Read more ...

Does Allah Love Us?

Does Allah Love Us? by Muhammad Alshareef After the Prophet sal Allahu ‘alayhi wa sallam passed away, Abu Idrees Al Khawlanee (d. 80 AH/699-700 CE) in Dimishq (Damascus), went to Masjid Al-Kabeer. In the masjid he saw a group of people sitting around one man. He described the man as smiling very much and people were sitting around him asking questions. So Abu Idrees Al-Khawlanee asked, “Who is this man?” They answered, “That is Mu'adh Ibn Jabal radi Allahu anhu, the companion of the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam.” The next day Abu Idrees Al-Khawlanee came to the masjid early in the morning, before Salaatul Fajr, thinking he was the first Read more ...

Serving Our Faith in Our Daily Lives

How can I serve my faith in the course of my daily life? What contribution can I make as I go about my normal business? This is a question that many of us ask ourselves and it is a very good question. The Prophet (peace be upon him said): “Every person goes forth in the morning trading in his own self. He either earns its freedom or consigns it to perdition.” Therefore, we ask ourselves: "Should I focus on enjoining people to what is right? Should I forbid them from what is wrong? Is it best for me to gather together the children and help them to commit the Quran to memory? Should I rather get involved in some charity work?" The ways that we as Muslims Read more ...

“I cannot obey Him (Allah) in public and disobey Him in private.”

Narrated by 'Abdullah ibn Zayd ibn Aslam, from his father, from his grandfather, who said: "When I was accompanying 'Umar ibn al-Khatab on his patrol of Madinah at night, he felt tired, so he leant against a wall. It was the middle of the night, and (we heard) a woman say to her daughter, “O my daughter, get up and mix that milk with some water.” The girl said, “O Mother, did you not hear the decree of Amir al-Mu’minin (chief of the believers) today?” The mother said, “What was that?” The girl said, “He ordered someone to announce in a loud voice that milk should not be mixed with water.” The mother said, “Get up and mix the milk with Read more ...

Thrown in the Fire…

The Miracle of Ibrahim, for Abu Muslim. When Al-Aswad (The False Prophet) gained a considerable following in Yemen, he sent for Abu Muslim Al-Khaulaanee (radhiAllahu anhu). When Abu Muslim came before him, Al-Aswad haughtily asked, “Do you bear witness that I am indeed the Messenger of Allah?” Abu Muslim said, “I do not hear.” Al-Aswad said, “Do you bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah (sal Allaahu alayhi wa sallam)?” Abu Muslim said, “Yes.” Al-Aswad repeatedly asked the two questions, and Abu Muslim repeatedly gave the same answers for both. So furious did Al-Aswad become that he ordered for Abu Muslim to be thrown Read more ...

Are You Killing Something?

Are You Killing Something? Source : http://blog.iloveallaah.com/ The Quran and Sunnah both emphasize the importance of time in the life of a Muslim. Allah swears in the beginning of many Surahs (chapters) by time or moments in time, for example Allah Says (what means): “By the dawn and the ten nights (i.e. the first ten days of the month of Thul-Hijjah)...” [Surah Al Fajr 89: 1-2] And also Says (what means): “By the night when it covers, and by the day when it appears...” [Surah Al Layl 92:1-2] And also Says (what means): “By the morning brightness and by the night when it covers with darkness...” [Surah Al Duha  93:1-2] And also Read more ...

The Virtues and Fasting During Shabaan

The Virtues and Fasting During Shabaan Source : http://blog.iloveallaah.com/ What is Shabaan? Shabaan is the name of the (eighth) month of the Islamic lunar calendar, and it is so called because in this month the Arabs used to disperse (tasha'aba) in search of water, or it was said that it is so called because it sha'aba (branches out or emerges) i.e., it appears between the months of Rajab and Ramadan. Is it Sunnah to fast the entire month of Sha’baan? Praise be to Allah. It is mustahabb to fast a great deal in the month of Sha’baan. It was narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) used to fast the whole of Sha’baan. Ahmad Read more ...

Be afraid of Allah, and be just to your children.

Narrated by 'Amir: I heard An-Nu'man bin Bashir on the pulpit saying, "My father gave me a gift but 'Amra bint Rawaha (my mother) said that she would not agree to it unless he made Allah's Apostle as a witness to it. So, my father went to Allah's Apostle and said, 'I have given a gift to my son from 'Amra bint Rawaha, but she ordered me to make you as a witness to it, O Allah's Apostle!' Allah's Apostle asked, 'Have you given (the like of it) to everyone of your sons?' He replied in the negative. Allah's Apostle said, 'Be afraid of Allah, and be just to your children.' My father then returned and took back his gift." [Sahih Bukhari, Book #47, Hadith Read more ...
