Out of Egypt: The Story of Pass-over in the Quran
Out of Egypt: The Story of Pass-over in the Quran
- By Prof. Shahul Hameed
Many Jews may be surprised to learn that Islam as preached by Muhammad (peace be upon him) was the same religion preached by Abraham, as well as of all other prophets mentioned in the Torah and the Bible. Muslims honor all the prophets of the Jews – Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, David and Solomon among others – as their own prophets.
Here is how Allah ordered Muhammad to follow the religion of the Patriarch Abraham:
"So We have taught thee the inspired (Message), "Follow the ways of Abraham the True in Faith, and he joined not gods with God."" (Surah Read more ...
Remove Him from this Land
In the book, Muslim Judges of Andalus, Abu Al-Hasan Ibn Abdullaah Al-Maaliqee recounts a story about a great scholar of our Ummah : Muhammad ibn At-Tayyib Abu Bakr Al-Baaqillaanee (d. 1013). Let’s spend a moment in his sandals, so that we may feel the power that Islam had in the hearts of those Muslims.
Here is a passage from when the Khalifah of the Muslims sent Abu Bakr Al-Baaqillaanee to the Roman King. Ibn Hayyaan says:
The transgressor (the King of the Romans) invited Abu Bakr Al-Baaqillaanee to a Christian banquet, and on the appointed day, Abu Bakr Al-Baaqillaanee arrived. The hall was lush with Christian noblemen, the walls and tables dazzled Read more ...
Goodbye My Beloved
Goodbye My Beloved
- Extracted from a Khutbah by Muhammad Alshareef
Usama ibn Zaid radi Allahu anhu narrated in a hadith that: "We were with the Prophet when suddenly there came to him a messenger from one of his daughters who was asking him to come and see her son who was dying. The Prophet said (to the messenger), "Go back and tell her that whatever Allah takes is His, and whatever He gives is His, and everything with Him has a limited fixed term (in This world). So order her to be patient and hope for Allah's reward." But she sent the messenger to the Prophet again, swearing that he should come to her. So the Prophet got up, and so did Sa'd bin 'Ubada Read more ...
“My Mercy Prevails Over My Wrath”
“My Mercy Prevails Over My Wrath”
- By Hala Salah
“The willingness to forgive and not to punish” is a definition frequently used for the word mercy, but what is mercy in Islam?
With Islam, mercy was given a deeper meaning that created a vital aspect in the life of every Muslim, which he is rewarded by God (Allah) for showing.
Allah’s mercy, which is bestowed on all His creatures, is seen in everything we lay eyes on: in the sun that provides light and heat, and in the air and water that are essential for all the living.
An entire chapter in the Quran is named after Allah’s divine attribute Ar-Rahman or “The Most Gracious.” Also two Read more ...
Friday Khutbah (Sermons) : Go Back and Pray, for You Have Not Prayed
Friday Khutbah (Sermons) : Go Back and Pray, for You Have Not Prayed
by Muhammad Alshareef
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful.
In the dark of the night, Abu Lu’lu’ Al Majoosi hid in the shadows in preparation for the Fajr Salah, during which he would execute his satanic mission to murder the Ameer of the believers – Umar ibn Al-Khattab radi Allahu anhu.
Umar used to lead the Fajr Salah with a long surah, giving members of the community time to join the congregation. On this day, as he recited, Abu Lu’lu’ advanced from a dim pillar, a poisoned dagger hidden in his sleeve. He jumped in front of Umar radi Allahu anhu and tore Read more ...
Respect your Elders
Allah says in the Holy Quran:
"Thy Lord hath decreed that ye worship none but Him, and that ye be kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in thy life, say not to them a word of contempt, nor repel them, but address them in terms of honour. And, out of kindness, lower to them the wing of humility, and say: “My Lord! bestow on them thy Mercy even as they cherished me in childhood.”" (Surah Al Isra' 17:23-24)
“We have enjoined on the human beings to be kind to his parents. In pain did their mother bore them and in pain did she give them birth.” (Surah Ahqaf 46:15)
“Respect the womb that bore you.” (Surah Nisa 4:1)

Quotes : Muhammad, the man in a cloak of his own clouting
Thomas Carlyle, the Scottish historian wrote about the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Excerpt from "Lectures on Heroes", p. 66.
"They called him Prophet, you say? Why, he stood there face to face with them; bare, not enshrined in any mystery, visibly clouting his own cloak, cobbling his own shoes, fighting, counselling, ordering in the midst of them, they must have seen what kind of a man he was, let him be called what you like! No emperor with his tiaras was obeyed as this man in a cloak of his own clouting. During three and twenty years of rough actual trial, I find something of a veritable Hero necessary for that of itself." Read more ...
